KOYAA - Get set for the animated hero!, a retrospective exhibition

7.11.2017 - 3.12.2017

Kresija Gallery in Ljubljana, devoted to work with a local flavour, will be hosting a retrospective exhibition entitled KOYAA – Get set for the animated hero! A wide range of exhibits will be on show, from drawings, storyboards and puppets to sets, props, screenplays and behind-the-scenes photographs. The exhibition will take the visitor into the world of Koyaa’s creators, their working processes, and the technical challenges they have to overcome to ensure that the films delight small and big screen audiences alike.
The exhibition will run until the 3rd of December and will be complemented by events at the neighbouring Trubar Literature House. On Mondays there will be in-depth discussions with the films’ creators moderated by Igor Prassel, programme director of the Animateka international animated film festival, and an opportunity to purchase some original photographs from the Koyaa films.

As Kolja Saksida, director and producer, says: The Koyaa films are aimed at both children and adults, as they carry a universal message: that situations that at first glance appear insurmountable can be turned to your advantage with imagination and good humour, and be resolved in an interesting way. I wanted that message to come across in an entertaining context, with unexpected complications and a big dose of situation comedy resulting from the hero’s creative approach – an approach that saves the day every time. I want to emphasise through the films that it is always worth persevering and searching for new ideas even though they might not work at the first attempt.
